I’m not too sure what Islam is really about, but that’s the reason why I took this class. I think that its teachings and guidance of God “Allah” that is being taught by Mohammad. I’ve had a numerous amount of friends that were Muslim when I was growing up. Since I was so young I really didn’t know if there was a different between them and I. We all got along and being so young I just left it as that and no questions were asked. The old I got now I want to know more about this religon.

Islam is a religion. It is an Arabic word which means “submission to God”. They follow the teachings of the holy Koran. Believers of Islam are known as Muslims. Muslims are to belief that there is only one God, and God’s prophet is Muhammad.

I came from a family with a long line of Muslims. For example, my grandparents were muslims by birth, so was my mother. I have lots of relatives that are also a part of this religion. Several years ago my mother converted to the Christian faith; though I have not had a personal intervenience with this religion, I do however respect the beliefs and teachings.

Islam means the “submission to Allah”. Islam is also know to be a way of life. It is a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness.

My experience as a Muslim has helped me make the right decisions throughout my life. I chose to live a healthy lifestyle. I don’t drink, smoke, or do any type of drugs. I believe everything that has happened to me or will happen is Insha’Allah (will of god).

Islam is a continuation of Judaism and Christianity. Islam is also a reformation of Judaism. Islam is about having respect with all of Allah (swt) prophets and Maryam and Eve being highly respected.

As for my experience I am a revert. I took shahada on April 2006 after being convinced personally this is the true path. What got me to change religion is how for everything there is an answer. What caught my eye the most is every prophet is viewed the same and is even respected.

I just wish people would ignore the media about Islam. Every religion has its rotten apples and extremist. People forget that any simple mind can be manipulated in a lot of ways. People need to realize for religion to survived in this century, one must know about G’d.

Islam is a religion in which Muslims believe there is one Allah and Muhammed is the last messenger of Allah. Islam to me is a very humble way of life. If all the rules are followed then there wouldn’t be any conflicts among Muslims and others. I was born and brought up in a Muslim family. I was taught how to read the Quran by the time I was in 3rd or 4th grade. Like most Muslim children I gained most of my information through my family members and some of the member of the Masjid. This is the religion I put my complete faith in but I don’t always comply with the rules though I try.

To me I think that Islam is a religion that allows people to respect each other and unites them in believing in one “Allah”. Although I am Muslim I am not really aware of what it is I believe in but my parents tell me about the religion day by day but I’m not as knowledgeable as I should be. This class hopefully will answer all the questions i have about this religion so i do not feel ashamed of being Muslim but no nothing about it. My experience is only going to the mosque with my family and praying. I was born in America so learning the language and religious beliefs is a lot harder than if you were born in an Arabic culture.

What is Islam??? I really do not have an answer for that. I’m not sure what Islam is consider to be, I just know that I will learn in a few days or maybe weeks what Islam is. The only experience that I have had with this religion no offense to anyone is what people started to say after 9/11. I really can not say though that I have had any personal experience with the religion or that I know anything, besides what I have learned the last time we were in class.

    Q: What is Islam?

A: Islam is a modest and peaceful religion. It consists of ONE god named ALLAH and his messengers, that are called Prophets, who preach Islam. Islam respects other religions and does not promote violence.

Q: What is your experience with this religion?

A: My experience with this religion is wonderful. I am Muslim myself and love being one. It has taught me to be kind and caring to others and has also taught me to involve Islam in my life as much as possible.

Islam is both a religion and a complete way of life. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the majority have nothing to do with the extremely grave events which have come to be associated with their faith. I don’t really have any experience with this religion which is why I am taking this course to learn more about it.

Islam is a viable path – one of many – towards attaining spiritual salvation. Personally, it is the path I have chosen and discovered to be not only spiritual, but also a thorough moral and sociological guide. Although I was born Muslim, when I say its a path I have chosen, I mean it, since my parents aren’t particularly religious. I grew up in a Muslim country with a tumultuous political and social landscape, and it has been a lifelong struggle to distinguish between the cultural practices of Pakistanis from their religious practices, and so to know what I need to imitate or follow. Unlike most Westerners, as a practising, thoughtful Muslim, I am aware that there is often a dissonance between the two. However, it has been doubly hard because I am a woman.

Islam is a religion that is compromised of a mixture of peace, unity, forgiveness and so much more with the main focus being submission to Allah (SWT). It brings with it the Holy Quran, which is a book of guidelines and divine messages from Allah him/herself with the intention of leading Muslims towards the righteous path while educating them about history and the way of life. I have been brought up in a Muslim household my whole life and my grandmother taught all my cousins and neighboring Muslim children how to read the Quran since an early age. My uncle/family friend owns a Masjid in Hackensack so I am there quite often. Islam, in my experience, has basically molded me into the person I am today by everything i was taught from my family and the people at my local Masjid.

I believe that Islam basically is the root and purpose of this world. It deals with how we should act, think, talk, basically all our life. It is our key to happiness and success in this world and afterwards. Islam doesn’t just mean to worship there is also a huge part deals with dialouge and how people should interact with each other. Islam is a religion where one could find faith, serenity, humanism, and self-respect.

I was born in a country that has lot of etchics adopted from Islam, which also had influenced me as well. I’m aware that my religion was the one who gave me my identity, and thought me who i should become. It will definitely be my and all my loved ones guide to this life and after life.

Islam is what the meaning of Islam is…”Submission to Allah”. Everything is done for Allah and for the best of oneself. I don’t think that islam is just a religion with rules and restrictions it is a correct path to follow in order to better oneself, it is the path to getting closer to whom created us. People may think the religion is rules, rules, rules, but it is not . These “rules” is the best for humandkind in any form.

I was born a muslim and was raised with the religion. I just want to better understand the religion and it’s backgrounds. There is more that i need to learn about Islam. I need to understand my religion fully in any aspect that i can so that i can define Islam better. Hopefully, this class can help me achieve this.

The Arabic word “Islam” means the submission or surrender of one’s will to the will of the only true god worthy of worship, “Allah. ‘ Islam teaches us that this life is a life of worship. We are placed on this earth in order to worship Allah and obey His command. During this earthly life we are subjected to a series of trials and our reward will be great in the next life. We have been placed on this earth to worship God, fast, pray, be industrious, good, kind, respectful, and a source of uprightness and morality.

I was born into the religion Islam. My whole family are all practicing Muslims. And i have had a good experience with Islam. As growing up i have been in an Islamic school to learn about my religion and to practice it. I have been living in an Islamic environment my whole life and had many wonderful experiences. Islam is a calm and peaceful religion.

Islam is a religion that means submission to god in arabic. we must praise Allah, we are here to praise Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. He is a prophet and the message he sent to all people here on Earth was straight from Allah, it is what Allah wants us to know here on Earth, Muhammad is just the messenger.

Islam means submission to allah. In Islam we believe that there is only one god. He who created us and to him we will return. Islam for those who do not understand it might seem to be a complicated and strict religon. However sometimes you have to read between the lines and in the end everything will make sense. Iam a muslim and i have alot of experience in the religion but you can never learn enough

Islam is a religion, my religion which is not understood in this country or by others. It is a precious religion that is very complex. People are quick to judge when they do not know the full understanding of our beliefs or why we do what we do. Muslims which are followers of Islam believe and follow the Quran which are our holy scriptures. The 5 Pillars of Islam is also a huge influence in Islam. Which Muslims believe in the 1) Shahada- bear witness that there is no God but Allah and Mohammed is the messenger
    2) Salah- preforming the 5 prayers daily 3) Zakat- giving charity 4)Sawm- fasting in the holy month of Ramadan 5) Hajj- traveling to Mecca to pray in the holiest place. Islam is a peaceful religion no matter what stereotypes one has heard. It is the first religion that gave rights to women and continues to do so. Muslims come in all different backgrounds and shows no favortism.

As a literal translation, Islam is seen as ‘submitting oneself to Allah’, the Arabic word for God. To me, Islam is not just a religion but a way of life. Everything that a Muslim does is not just for the sake of having a “strict” religion, but serves a purpose. There seems to be an explanation or rule for every aspect of a persons life when following Islam.

As for my experience with the religion, I feel that I’ve come across too many people who like to preach what Muslims do but don’t focus on the reason they believe certain things or follow certain rules. I want to expand my experience in this religion and get an unbiased understanding of what it is.

Islam is a very peaceful and merciful religion. It is the only religion that makes sense to me. My experience with this religion is a positive one. I grew up learning about Islam through my parents but have never really studied the religion. I think that Islam is underestimated in this country. People think that this religion is a religion of terrorism which is very unfalse. People do not see the true meaning unless they dig deep and study it. It is a fascinating religion that does not discrimination.

Asalamu alaikum warahmut Allah wa barakatuhu
Islam, the word itself basically means the being submitted to Allah. The basic concept of Islam is to teach us that this life is a life based on worship. Our existence of being placed on this earth is to worship Allah and obey his commands. We have the option of either not obeying Allah and having a good life or being rewarded with the greatest rewards in the next life in Janna (heaven). Islam is based on testifying that there is not god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, establishing the 5 daily prayers, paying zakat where you can obligate charity due to the poor, observing the fast of Ramadan, and Performing pilgrimage to the Kaaba in Mecca where you are required to do if you are able to do it at least once in your life. The faith of Islam consists of Believing in Allah, believing in his angels, books, messengers, The Day of Judgment, and to believe in the Devine Decree which is the Divine fate whether it’s to the good or the evil.
