    I listen to gangstarap

    I like cheesburgers

The primary reason for taking this course was to establish a more concrete understanding of Islam and its core beliefs.

I would like to be able to leave this class being a more rounded individual not only spiritually but also in being more open minded.

    Holla back youngin!

Hi i am jamshade, i was born in afghanistan, raised there since the age 5 or something, then i had to move to india. I lived in india aproximately 6 or 7 years. i had to be there in order for me to come to America. I came to America when i was around 12 or 13 I beleive.

I was born into a muslim family. I grew up basically knowing that there is God Allah. and that He has a messenger Muhammad ( pbuh). but i had no guidance of life or anything from anybody or anyone. I was mislead growing up free. Basically doing anything i wanted with no authority. I failed miserably and was taught hard learned lessons of the street which made me seek some sort of authority. When i relize that there was nobody else to help me, not one human being on this planet. that is when i relized that the only one that really helps you in life is the one up there Allah. SO i started submitting myself him that time when i relized. I took my shahada in my heart to him. I know that i have to go to imam or have wintesses. but Allah is my witness and I believe that there is no greater or more honest of a witness to my lfie or anything i do then Allah himself. So i took the shahada meaning confession of faith between me and Allah. I started learning abot islam by reading more and more and more, My first experience reading the quran was not a pleasant one at all. I felt it was totally against me. Every bad person it mention in the quran i felt it related to me. Sometimes the truth made me so hard in heart that i ahd to put the quran down and not read it or ignore the passage that i felt relating to me. I guess it was the ignorance acting that way inside me.

Some how I kept reading more and more, I have a long road of learning about islam and How it guided me. It is a long story, anybody interested in wanting to know more you are always welcome to ask. Alhamdulilah ( praises be to Allah ) I am very happy that Allah guided me to truth and the right path. I have learned about this world and its secrets so much. I have learned so much of secrets of the other world. and I feel like Islam was my parent and it was islam who did the parent hood on me. so thank Allah for that i can never be enough gratefull. since it does deal with my after life. well see ya soon. Salamu alaikum and peace.

    Hello – Salam Aleikom everybody,
Mu name is John (Yahya) H. I am from Lebanon and Venezuela-Italian. I was born in Beirut (Lebanon) but I moved to Venezuela when I was 4 year old boy, So because Venezuela is not a Muslim country my ethics as a Muslim were down. Even thought I love my religion and everything that is related to it, and I was always trying to keep it. I feel Muslim since I was in my mother womb, jajajaja. I am taking this course because I would like to increase my knowledge of my own religion. I expect to learn and determine certain points from this course that could help for my life.

    Shookran.

    Allah Maakom!!!

    Yahya.

    Hi–Alsalamu Alyikum

My name is Hadeal and I’m Palestinian. Even though I’m a Muslim and know the basics about Islam, I chose to take this course to see how Islam is tought in America. And also I wanted to see how non-Muslims response and react to the Islamic teachings.

Hello I am Jeton, was born in Macedonia but moved to the States early in my life. However, I am of Albanian and Turkish descent. A few reasons as to why I took this class is because I wanted to learn about Islam, see how it’s taught in schools, and to get the remaining credits for my A.A.

Hopefully, I will learn something in this class and apply to other things in life. I look forward to participating in projects and class discussions, too.

I wanted to take this course because I thought it would be interesting to see how Islam is taught in Bergen. I wanted to know what other people thought about the religion, and hopefully learn more about Islam.

    Greetings,

I am a first time student at BCC, and was a late admission to the college. I registered in the class last minute in order to achieve twelve credits to become a full time student. I was pleasantly surprised with the interesting subject matter and have opted to stay in the class. I look forward to completing the course and feel it will be a pleasant and fulfilling experience. I was raised catholic, and though I have numerous friends who are practicing Muslims, I know little about the religion of Islam.

    Hey

My name is Jose. Im Puertorican and live in Paterson. I hang out with alot of Arabs and I really like there culture. I would like to learn a little bit more about where they come from and where they get there ideals from. There really cool people. Im like family to them, they call me there cuz or there cusin. Where like a totally different family. Where not all Arab and Puertoricans, there are also Cubans and Columbians that all hang out. We all share our culture with each other. Its a shame, put yet funny, that we racialy profile each other. Of course the Arabs are terrorist, the Columbians are coke heads or dealers, the Cubans are communist and the Puertoricans always have a knife and living off of SSI. I dont like to be called ignorant or even be ignorant. I like to learn about new things and new people also. I hope to learn alot and get an A in this course.

Hello my name is Krystele Yenal. I am a nice mixture of french and turkish.
Islamic Scriptures appealed to me as a subject I would be interested in learning. I took this class seeking to have a better understanding of the Islamic world. When 9/11 happened, I was only fourteen years old and it had a great impact on me. A stereotype of Arabic people was planted in the United States stating that: all Arabs are terrorists. It’s horrible knowing this when having a few friends that follow the Muslim faith. This drives me to understand more about these people and what they believe in. Islam is not one of the more popular faiths in America. I really don’t know much about it or how it started. I plan to learn how different and alike it is to my faith, Christianity and why people are willing to die for it.

My name is Ziyad Ibrahim and I am Palestinian and follower of the Islam religion. The reason I took this class was to get a better understanding of the Islamic faith. Growing up, I never really learned much about my faith and religion. I am not too fond of my own religion, which is shameful, I believe. I know the simple beliefs of Islam, such as fasting, praying, not eating pork, not drinking, etc. I want to know more about the holy Quran and the story of the Prophet Mohammad. I want to be able to understand the message the Quran is telling Muslims. I’m not a very religous person, hopefully by taking this class It’ll motivate me to become more religous and closer to God, or Allah.

My name is Jeremy Snopek and I was born in Evanston, Illinois. I enjoy the arts, especially music. Raised catholic, I attended Sunday school for many years. Although I now consider myself to be an atheist, I’ve maintained a fairly strong interest in religion and theology. I’ve also studied the Hebrew bible in a previous class. I look forward to studying Islam, yet another monotheistic religion. Hopefully, my previous experience with both Hebrew and Christian texts will help color my understanding of the Quran and vice versa.

My name is Zisan Iclal Bulur, I’m Turkish, although i was born in New Jersey. I am a Muslim and I know a lot about my religion. Of course you can never learn enough. I took this class because it had to do with Islam, I wasn’t really sure what we were going to learn. Even though I do know pretty much everything we’ve talked about so far I’m sure I will learn things that will be useful. I’m very happy that people of other beliefs will get to understand what Islam is really about and will see that the stereotyping people do about Muslims is wrong.
